Shad Lorenz

Shad is a 12 year United States Army Veteran with two combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his 12 years of service, he has conducted extensive military training both physically and mentally challenging. Improving his abilities and helping develop highly trained military soldiers.

Shad grew up playing a variety of sports baseball, basketball, ran track and played a couple years of football. After September 11th 2001, Shad enlisted the United States Army. Enlisting in the Infantry was a big step towards his interest in fitness. The Military places emphases physical training with long distance runs, unit foot marches, and various other body weight exercises. Outside of the Military, Shad was introduced to weightlifting through friends, who would go lift weights after work and on weekends. It started out as a hobby, however began to evolve the more he looked into the sport of weightlifting.

In 2007 a co-worker of Shad’s first introduced him to the CrossFit main page, his initial thoughts about the WODs were “this is crazy I can’t do any of this, these people are nuts!!!!!” In 2010 another co-worker introduced him to the Jim Jones style workouts which are very much like CrossFit workouts and Shad fell in love, from then on he was hooked.

Beth Lorenz

Beth started Crossfit in 2011 after a friend recommended trying it out. Before trying Crossfit, she sporadically attempted working out at local gyms or “running”. Crossfit changed the way Beth looks at fitness and overall wellness. She takes a special interest in the physiology of movement and how Crossfit can be utilized by people of all ages to improve their lives.

In March of 2013, she began training individual clients at her local CrossFit gym. Before she discovered Crossfit, Beth, held a career in operations and management as a contractor for the United States Army, at Walter Reed Military Hospital in Washington, DC/Be.

Ramon Mendoza Profile Photo

Ramon Mendoza

Ramon is originally from Riverside, CA. He moved to MD in October, 2015 and has lived in Germantown ever since. Growing up he was always active and enjoyed playing various sports such as football, baseball, basketball, and BMX riding. Prior to finding CrossFit he was training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, and Kickboxing.

Before becoming a trainer at CFGP Ramon worked for Euro Motorcars in Germantown for 9 and a half years as the Service Manager. After 14 years in the automotive industry he made the decision to refocus his efforts towards a career change and directed his attention towards a career in fitness. In 2016 he became a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and continue to further his education by completing courses as well as attending various seminars and workshops.

Ramon found CrossFit about four years ago, at the recommendation of his sister-in-law and her husband. After making it through his first workout he was hooked and has been going ever since. In September 2018 he decided to further his education and become more involved in the CrossFit community by attending the CrossFit Level 1 Trainer course where he received his Level 1 Credential allowing him to coach at CrossFit Germantown Performance.

Bryce Magnant Profile Photo

Bryce Magnant

Bryce has always been in some sort of athletics. From a young age he played soccer, swimming and diving, football and tennis. In middle school began learning how to lift weights to increase his athletic performance. In high school Bryce focused on his athletics with hopes to play football and dive in college. That hard work payed off, Bryce played football for Montgomery College and walked onto the the University of Maryland football team. He also won a spot on the University of Maryland’s swimming and diving teams.

In April of 2014 when CrossFit Germantown Performance opened its doors Bryce attended a free introductory class to get a better understanding about CrossFit. After that, he was hooked and joined the gym in October of 2014.

Rachel Hollwitz

Rachel grew up playing sports, but after she got out of school she struggled to find an exercise program that was fun and motivating enough to stick with. The group classes at CrossFit Germantown Performance bring together all the elements of team sports that she enjoys -- especially the supportive environment -- while also enabling her to do things she never thought possible. Her only regret is that she didn't start sooner! As a coach, Rachel enjoys helping members find their strengths and learn new skills. She loves being a part of the CFGP community, and every day she's inspired by how committed CFGP members are to improving their health and wellness.

Leah Velasquez

Leah’s fitness journey began in highschool where she ran track and swam. She continued running for personal fitness in college and then took a couple years off to run after three daughters!

A few years ago Leah jumped back into running and completed a couple half marathons and one full. She also have enjoyed working out at home with P90X and Insanity.

Leah was very happy and excited to join the team at CrossFit Germantown Performance! She looks forward to helping challenge those who come to Bootcamp and help them reach their fitness goals.

Katelyn Brown

Katelyn Started Crossfit in 2010 while attending college in Rochester, New York. Katelyn fell in love with the constantly varied and challenging workouts as well as the competitive team environment. Katelyn was a member of the Crossfit Media team for the 2013 Crossfit Northeast Regional Competition.

Katelyn moved to Leesburg, VA in 2014 where she continued her Crossfit journey. Katelyn attained her Crossfit Level 1 certification and became a full-time coach a part-time chiropractic assistant. While coaching Katelyn competed in various local competitions. In 2015 Katelyn was hired by a local police department and moved to Maryland. Katelyn continued her Crossfit coaching career at several gyms around Montgomery County, MD before finally landing at Crossfit Germantown Performance.

One of Katelyn’s favorite aspects of Crossfit is how motivating the training and the community can truly be. She can personally say, Crossfit transformed her into a healthier, motivated, strong, and confident person. Katelyn loves setting various goals, some small, and some large, and working towards those in the gym. It helps Katelyn realize how much her body is actually capable of and it translates directly into her everyday life.
